Who’s the Boss
According to some U.S companies it seems as though infants and parents could well be changing places in the workplace. Parents are jumping on board a new program that allows their young children to actually go to work with them. It sounds fine in theory especially with the high cost of childcare and the long hours parents spend away from their babies reaching all time highs, but let’s investigate further. Some benefits and downfalls of this program include the views of a childless chief for epidemorlogy and disease control in Phoenix, Arizona. Don Herrington had some reservation to this new proposal but soon became a great proponent for “bringing infants to work.” Herrington stated that everyone likes to see children in the workplace and its a great morale booster.
Many other co-workers feel that childcare at jobs giving by their own parents improves family life in general. People like business owner Debra Pierson who said, “I don’t think a baby is more distracting than talking about Dancing with the Stars or your weekend.” However an opponent view includes Collette liaritonino opinion believes it is unfair to have babies in open workplaces where other co-workers are subjected to distraction. The pros far out weigh the cons making baby the boss and showing that working moms are truly placing family not jobs as priority number one.
